Choir rehearsals are on Wednesdays 7:30-9:00pm at the Henleaze Bowling Club Pavilion in Henleaze. The Bowling Club is within walking distance of bus stops on the main road from central Bristol. Parking is usually available in Grange Court Road.
We are a self-financed choir and charge a membership subscription (reviewed annually); for 2023-24 the subscription is £140 per year. This covers the running costs such as room hire, and enables us to put on concerts with well-known local soloists and orchestral players. The membership subscription can be paid in instalments.
Henleaze Choral Society was formerly known as the BCCS Choral Society (Bristol Cathedral Choir School Choral Society).
The change of name reflects our very successful relocation to a new venue for our rehearsals at
Henleaze Bowling Club Pavilion, Henleaze, Bristol.
We remember with affection and pride our many years as BCCS Choral Society and
our partnership with Bristol Cathedral School, initially as a Parents' Choir.
The choir has been in existence for over 25 years and has sung many of the choral classics in that time.
At recent concerts we have performed:
Mozart - Requiem, Handel - Messiah, Bernstein - Chichester Psalms, Haydn - The Seasons, Bach - Magnificat, Schubert - Mass in G,
Pergolesi - Magnificat, Handel - Zadok the Priest.
For the larger works we have often combined our voices with other choirs,
such as Yate Choral Society and Bristol Victoria Methodist Church Choir.
